AHRQ Releases New Tool to Improve the Safety of Care for Nursing Home Residents

TeamSTEPPS® for Long-Term Care can help nursing home staff define and create teams, and demonstrates the use of TeamSTEPPS tools to identify and raise communication issues affecting long-term care facilities. It was developed by AHRQ and DOD and created specifically for nursing homes, but can be adapted to other long-term care settings such as assisted living communities. TeamSTEPPS for Long Term Care includes new materials to demonstrate how to use communication tools in quality improvement projects.  It is available in DVD format and includes PowerPoint presentations, teaching modules, exercises, and video vignettes that can be used to train staff.
