New This Week on HealthIT.gov

Here's a quick recap of ONC-related happenings for the week.
First up, hear from a Newark doctor and check out his advice on how doctors and their office staff can safeguard health information from hurricanes and other natural – and unnatural – disasters by using electronic records. Read the latest Buzz blog post.

Houston-based KBCore won our Patient Safety Reporting System Challenge, and took home a cool $50 grand. Learn more about the winning application.

Coming up soon: The Privacy and Security Tiger Team of the Health IT Policy Committee, and the Privacy and Security Working Group of the Health IT Standards Committee announced they will jointly host a web hearing on patient credentialing Nov. 29. ONC wants to congratulate the winners of the Managing Meds Video Challenge. Check out the winning videos here: http://managingmeds.challenge.gov/.

Here’s another video that can help you learn about how electronic access to your health data can empower you and maybe even save your life. It also helps caregivers treating you all stay on the same page (also known as coordination of care).

Certification

ONC's Office of Certification hosted a three-day technical workshop for the HIT Certification Program, earlier this week. The workshop covered: 2014 test procedures, test tools, test data, ONC’s timeline, and the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL). The presentation from the workshop will be posted on healthit.gov, 2014 Edition draft Test Methods page.

Wave 7

Nov. 8, ONC released Wave 7, the final wave, of the 2014 Edition draft Test Methods for public review. All waves of 2014 Edition draft Test procedures are now posted on healthit.gov at http://www.healthit.gov/policy-researchers-implementers/2014-edition-draft-test-methods.
