New This Week on HealthIT.gov
Greetings and Salutations!

This week we want to remind you about the open video challenges where you can help others by sharing your story. The deadlines for the remaining Health IT video contests for 2012 are approaching quickly. ONC and the VA have also invited designers and developers to redesign the patient’s health record by entering the Health Design Challenge – The deadline for this challenge is November 30.

Also, if you or you office are clearing the decks as part of your year-end routine and preparing to choose electronic medical record software, you might consider double-checking whether you are ready to implement an EMR and Assess Your Practice Readiness. Step 1 of the How to Implement EHRs lifecycle covers the following items to get started with an EHR implementation:
  • Why implement EHRs?
  • Assess your current practice
  • Envision the future
  • Set goals
  • Related FAQs
  • Processes/Outcomes
For more data and information visit the EHR implementation lifecycle steps and check out the National Learning Consortium (NLC).

Regulations FAQs: Four new FAQs have been added to address questions related to EHR Module certification; how many clinical quality measure EHR technology must be certified to in order to be issued a Complete EHR certification; certification approaches for the "transitions of care" certification criteria; and the type of ID attributes that should be used when following the XDR/XDM for Direct Messaging specification.
